Michael Stephenson is not classically trained and is largely self-taught. Since joining New Music Brighton in 2001, he has had over 25 pieces premiered. Last year saw a first performance of his Great War Songs - a piece based on songs sung in the trenches of the First World War - played by the London Myriad Ensemble. This year there have been 2 performances of Six Minute Miniatures by Talkestra and The First Quartet was premiered by the Regency String Quartet. Current projects include a 2-piano transcription of Great War Songs as well as a string orchestra arrangement.
